TERROIR, Hobart, Sydney & Copenhagen
Scott Balmforth, Gerard Reinmuth, Richard Blythe

TERROIR was established in 1999 in Hobart and Sydney. The practice is interested in the potential for architecture to open up questions of cultural significance in relation to the contemporary world.

In 2009 TERROIR were awarded in an international competition for the Naturhistorisk Museum in Copenhagen. This lead to the establishment of TERROIR ApS (Denmark) which is currently providing strategic design services on the Aus$1Billion redevelopment of Bispebjerg Hospital, a 12 storey residential tower in Arhus and participating in invited competitions in Denmark and Sweden.

In their home city of Hobart, they are currently working as Architects in Association with Melbourne-based practices on the $45M Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies for the University of Tasmania and the $350M Royal Hobart Hospital Women’s and Children’s Precinct.

The Directors hold academic positions at RMIT University, University of Technology Sydney, University of Tasmania and Arkitektskolen Aarhus (DK)
