Melanie is an architect and academic and currently Associate Professor and Director of the Architecture Program at RMIT University, Melbourne.She is a member of the international art and architecture collaborative, MUF, and the founder member of MUFAUS, an innovative, multi- disciplinary and research based practice. Since 1996 muf has established a reputation for pioneering and innovative projects that address the social, spatial and economic infrastructures of the public realm and has been exhibited and published internationally at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, Van Alen Institute in New York and the Design Museum in London. muf are Curators of the British Pavilion in the 2010 Venice Bienale and Mel was the Creative Director of the 2010 National Architecture Conference in Sydney - 'extra / ordinary'.  Melanie has expertise in initiating and implementing pioneering forms of collaborative and participatory approaches that engage people in the process of designing and making places and she has been responsible for major projects in the public realm, with extensive experience of liaising with local authorities and government agencies to achieve provocative and robust project outcomes.
